Amiga Active Coverdiscs
(solutions to problems)

If you've got a problem that isn't already covered on this page, you'll need to tell us about it - in which case, you should read the Document for Reporting AACD Treachery (DRAT) right away!

If the problem you have encountered has already been experienced by another unfortunate Amiga Active reader, chances are we'll have solved it and reported on it here - in which case, we hope you find the solution to your problem!

All CDs
My coverdisc is broken/scratched!

Oh dear, those newsagents/postmen just don't seem to care these days do they? Never fear - if your disc is smashed to pieces, twisted, scratched or otherwise damaged - by no fault of your own (e.g. throwing it at the wall when a shareware program fails to install) - just return it to us with a stamped, self-addressed envelope and we'll replace it.

So pop it in a jiffy bag and post it (with a note explaining that it's physically damaged, in case we think you're sending it back because you don't like the colour or something :-) to the following address, marking your envelope 'AACD returns':

AACD17 & AACD18
I can't read the coverdisc!

Some people have been experiencing problems reading either or both of these Amiga Active CDs, both of which were created as "multi-session" discs so that they could include both Amiga and Linux files.

Older CD filesystems are unable to read these discs completely. To check your filesystem, open a shell and type:

    version CD0: full

replacing "CD0:" with the name of your CDROM drive. If you get a response of:

    cdfs.library 40.11 (09/11/1993)

...you are using the old Commodore CD filesystem from the CD32 and OS 3.1. This is almost certainly the worst CD filesystem ever invented. It's slow, buggy and doesn't support multi-session CDs.

The solution is to install AmiCDFS from a previous AACD, it's in AACDxx:AACD/Resources/CDROM/AmiCDFS2 (xx being the number of the disc, obviously). You can also download the archive, complete with installer, from here.
